Welcome!
I’m Jourdan Tymkow, a Registered Provisional Psychologist in Edmonton, Alberta, specializing in holistic therapy for trauma, grief, anxiety, psychedelic integration, and personal growth. My path to becoming a therapist has been deeply personal and shaped by a lifelong curiosity, ongoing self-discovery, and a passion for understanding the big questions in life.
My Journey to Becoming a Therapist
My journey toward therapy has been winding, guided by a deep and steady desire to understand myself and the world around me. As a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), I’ve always felt emotions and sensations on a profound level, particularly in my connections with others. This sensitivity, with its unique blend of strengths and challenges, has led me to a path of embodiment, where I’ve learned to be present with what is, explore the depths of consciousness, and embrace life as it unfolds.
I have always been called to the existential questions—like why we are here, what happens after we die, and what the meaning of life truly is. This seeking led me to study a wide range of disciplines, from Jungian psychology and Buddhist teachings to Indigenous knowledge, tarot, and astrology. My journey has also included psychedelic exploration, pilgrimages, and participation in various ceremonies. While I still don’t have the answers to life’s mysteries, I do know more presence, peace, acceptance, levity, and trust in life and the unknown.
Over the years, my explorations have coalesced into an offering that feels deeply soul nourishing and purposeful – walking alongside other’s journeys of self-discovery, grounded in empathy, creativity, and authenticity.
My Background in Healing and Support
Alongside my personal and spiritual explorations, I have had the privilege of training and working in various fields. My BFA in Critical Theory and Cultural Practices helped me develop strong critical thinking skills, an appreciation for diverse expression, and a deeper understanding of humanity’s complexities. It also sparked my love for storytelling, imagination, and myth, while deepening my interest in liberation and transformation.
I’ve trained as a birth doula, artist, archetypal astrologer and served as a psychedelic support worker with Fireside Project. These experiences taught me invaluable lessons in co-regulation, creative care, holding space for others, and the power of authentic joy and play.
Completing my MA in Counselling Psychology with distinction, I worked on the licensing and programming of one of Edmonton’s first psychedelic-assisted therapy clinics. This role included supporting individuals with the Special Access Program for psilocybin and MDMA-assisted therapies and co-facilitating psychedelic integration circles. Through this work, I gained deep insights into the wisdom of the body and the therapeutic potential of psychedelics in supporting personal growth and healing.
My Therapeutic Style
As a therapist, I bring all my experiences into my practice, offering a holistic, integrative, and trauma-informed approach. I recognize the importance of working with the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. My work is relational, intuitive, and empathetic, focused on helping you unlock your inner wisdom, heal from past wounds, and move toward a life of authenticity and purpose.
I specialize in:
Trauma healing and personal growth
Psychedelic integration
Anxiety, grief, and existential concerns
Life transitions, identity, and spiritual emergence
With each client, I work in a collaborative, compassionate, and playful manner, providing a safe space for exploration and growth. Together, we will journey through your past, present, and future, uncovering new insights and healing along the way.
If you’re seeking a therapist who continually seeks to understand the complexities of the human experience and brings a mix of empathy, intuition, humour, and playfulness to the healing process, we may be a great fit. Whether you are navigating trauma, grief, exploring psychedelic integration, or seeking deeper personal growth, I will be there with you through the tears, laughs, new understandings, and everything in between.
When I’m Not Holding Space, I enjoy:
90s Star Trek
hand building ceramics
rock climbing
karaoke - especially a power ballad
